Our Mission & Beliefs

Vision Statement:

The Humanity Baptist Church is committed to building God’s Village, spiritually in the hearts and minds of men, women, and children and physically, in the revitalization of the surrounding Newark Community as well as throughout the world.

Our Mission:

The mission of The Humanity Baptist Church is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28). We do this by preaching Jesus Christ unashamedly, worshiping celebratively, teaching rigorously, promoting justice passionately, equally empowering women and men in all aspects of church leadership, ministering to the needy, the oppressed, the physically challenged, and people of all ages and nationalities, inclusively.

Our Purpose

We will build a community that represents God’s kingdom through our ministries, which incorporate the five core purposes of the church. Magnifying and glorifying God fulfills our first core purpose to love God with all our hearts, minds and souls. We express that love through our Worship Ministry (John 4:24).

Our second purpose is to baptize believers in the name of Jesus the Christ is taken from the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20 which tells us to Go and make disciples … and spread the Good News about a loving God to every corner of the world and introduce them to a new value system.

Our third purpose is to edify and educate the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-16). The Great Commission tells us to teach all nations, which we accomplish through our Christian Education Ministry, providing training and instruction in the ways that God commands.

Our Fourth Purpose

... to love our neighbors as ourselves – is fulfilled through our Community Outreach Ministry (Luke 4:18). Through our outreach, we express to the world that we are vitally concerned and connected with all of God’s creation.

Our Fifth Purpose

... is that of stewardship, which is a new values system. Biblical stewardship is something much more than expansive. We believe it is where the concept of faith, work, and economics intersect. Thus, stewardship of time, talents and resources, stewardship of creation and stewardship of relationships is taught and implemented.

What We Believe

We Believe

In the authority of the Scriptures as the true Word of God, written by men under divine inspiration having God as the author and salvation as its end.

We Believe

There is one true and living God whose name is Jehovah and who exists in three persons, The Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit.

We Believe

Humankind was created in holiness, but fell from that state of holiness by voluntary transgression.

We Believe

The way of salvation is grace through faith in the Son of God who by his death made full atonement for our sins having risen from the dead is now enthroned in heaven as the only qualified and all-sufficient Savior.

We Believe

That the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ is imputed to us through faith in Jesus Christ and his shed blood.

We Believe

Sanctification is the progressive work of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life by which we are made partakers of God’s holiness, purifying the sinner from the pollution of sin.

We Believe

That repentance and faith are both sacred duties and inseparable graces. It is the work of the Holy Spirit turning one to God receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as prophet, priest and king and the only all-sufficient Savior.

We Believe

That in order to be saved, sinners must be regenerated or born again by the power of the Holy Spirit resulting in repentance and faith a newness of life in Christ.

We Believe

Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in Christ in the name of the Father the Son, and The Holy Spirit to show our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior.

We Believe

The Lord’s Supper by the sacred use of bread and wine as symbols of Christ’s broken body and His shed blood, partaken by members of the Church to commemorate together the suffering and death of Christ.

We Believe

The end of the world is approaching and at the last day, Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth. The dead will be raised from the grave and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. A separation will take place; the wicked will be consigned to Hell, everlasting punishment, and the righteous to everlasting joy in Heaven.
